We had another extraordinary photo shoot with my talented friend, Mandi. Here are a few of the favorites.
*In the foreseeable future, there will be a lack of pictures since we lost our camera at the Ragnar. The camera, along with Justin's knee, were casualties of the race. But we finished. Barely.

Happenings

**Just to let you know, this isn't a super interesting post, but if Justin asks me one more time to update the blog, SO HELP ME....

I envisioned this time with Justin home (unemployed...he loves to tell people that) to be calm and relaxing. Not so. We've been busy little worker ants trying to get ready for Texas. So, I of course will revert to list form of what's been going on.

1. We, along with 70% of our fellow Americans, celebrated Memorial Day with a barbecue. The Martins were kind enough to host my brothers and their families as well as their own kids since we don't really have a central gathering place. It was super fun.Eddie

I was banished to the kid's blanket because I kept spilling.

2. We went to a cabin with the Martins. It snowed (Utah's really awesome that way), so we stayed inside. Andrew had a super high fever the whole time so that was awesome. Henry didn't sleep, also awesome. But we did eat lots of food, which was sincerely awesome. (Italics = sarcasm dripping from my fingers as they type this word)3. Turns out the fever was associated with strep throat, which Justin then got and had to be babied back to health. Justin gets what we call "man colds." If you don't know what that means, count yourself lucky.

This little one missed the fun of strep, but has boycotted sleep completely. Deer in the headlights? Don't mind if I do.

4. Our friends threw a rockin' party and rented out a bowling alley to celebrate their recent successes (finishing a master's degree and getting a book deal...they are really amazing). It was fun to celebrate with them. And Andrew got to wear his first bowling shoes which is always a big deal.

5. We had a really sweet neighborhood party...The inflatables made the party for sure. That and DOMINATING Justin on the obstacle course. I am so stealthy.


6. Summer is officially here, which means POOL TIME! It's so delightful. Particularly when we pack up everything for the pool and Andrew won't get in the water. In the off-season, he developed a bit of "water hesitance." To cure the problem, I made this swimsuit for Sully. As soon as Sully jumped, Andrew jumped. I felt like a genius. Mom of the year. :)'

7. Andrew's half-birthday. He's not super into candles, so this shot of his buns is as close as we could get. Needless to say, I blew out the candles on the delectable fried french toast. Justin remains basically neutral but slightly disgruntled by my insistence on celebrating half-birthdays. Whatever.
8. Last but not least, the speedometer broke on the trailblazer, which makes for some really fun drive time. We take the GPS everywhere since it has a speedometer on it. I just love that it feels like we're racecar drivers all the time.

The Friends

We are so, so excited for our move to Texas. It will be a great adventure for our little family. What we're super NOT excited about is leaving behind some amazing friends.


I got a little case of bronchitis last week and wasn't feeling that hot. My awesome friend Karen brought me these amazing rolls (homemade...they're unbelievable), soup and juice. I love her.


Andrew is going to have a rough go when he realizes that Benji isn't living next door anymore. I just love this little guy so much. When he's over, it's like I only have one kid because he and Andrew just go in the toy room and play to their heart's content.

The Wernlis and Jensens delighted in a little bit of sushi goodness with us. Notice where Andrew's sitting. He totally prefers Cassie to me. I don't blame him.

You just don't find guys like this anymore

These pictures may not look like much, but can I just say, this is why I'm so grateful to be married to Justin. I took the boys to the gym for an hour and a half on the morning of Justin's day off. Usually he will spend that time studying, but for some reason, he decided to surprise me and deep clean my fridge. Seriously, who needs flowers when you have a man like this?

Our Staycay

We had a totally spontaneous sleepover in Park City last weekend...After the mother's retreat that my friend and I had arranged, Justin came up with the boys to meet me. Cassie was nice enough to let us use the suite for the night because she had to get back home.We went swimming and watched movies on the "big beds". Andrew loved the whole concept of having a sleepover, and Henry...Well, Henry didn't sleep, but what's new?

Henry definitely makes up for his stubborn resistance to scheduled sleep by being super cute. He's my buddy.

Even though Andrew was FREEZING all night long, he was just so over the moon about going swimming. We accidentally kept a keycard from the hotel, which Andrew now keeps in his carseat so he can look at it and talk about "going swimming in Park City". He makes adventures so much fun!!

Haircuts all around

Andrew was pretty freaking-out excited about getting his haircut at a place that has a slide, balloons and suckers. He also got to watch Elf during his haircut as an added bonus.

Henry was seriously confused about the haircut business. First, they were asking me questions like, "Does he want to watch a movie?" and "Would he like a balloon and a sucker?" Folks, I know he LOOKS like a little man, but he's ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD!!! It made me laugh that they thought he could sit in a chair by himself...Really? 6 MONTHS OLD.


Here's the after picture...Um, yeah. He looks like he's 35 years old, but at least his hair doesn't look as much like a toupée.

I got a haircut too, but nobody gave me a sucker...or a balloon. Lame.

My Mexican.

So, my friend is really cool. I tell her that a lot, but this just won her "cool friend for the day" award. She took Justin's picture yesterday so he could use it for business school (I don't really get this, "I need a picture for business school" thing, but I'm just putting it into the category of "I need a new backpack and new shoes" because it makes me feel organized). Since Justin is abusing his Mexican heritage to get scholarships and stuff, Mandi decided to help him out a bit. I love it.

* I apologize to all my real Mexican friends. You know how I love the true Mexican culture, and we realize that Justin looks much more Italian than Mexican, and that he's not a very good looking as a Mexican, but it's in the blood, so we've gotta use it.*
