The Happenings

I broke my glasses. About six months ago. It's been a little difficult to make it 14 hours every day with contacts in, so I finally gave in and got new glasses. Yay!Justin loves when I make faces and take pictures of myself.Here's a normal picture for Justin. Andrew tried his first hot dog. Sadly, he's not so into the hot dog part (good news for his health, bad news for his mom who loves hot dogs but doesn't buy them because...well, hot dogs barely count as a protein). He does, however, share my affinity for mustard. He was eating it by the handful. That's my boy.
He has this new thing with wearing his jacket in the house. He stands by the coat closet and points until I open it. Then he points until I get his jacket down, and then he tries to wriggle into it himself. Another weird habit.

Argentina

My parents received their mission assignment. They will be serving in the Argentina Neuquen Mission. They have penguins in their mission, which I think is super sweet.

J'adore...

Justin gave me an AWESOME gift...the desire of my heart for the last few months. He also gave me a card addressed to "Megan Martin," in case I got confused with someone else. (Actually he did it because he wrote "Megan" and it wasn't centered...Love my perfectionist husbie.) It was very sweet and made me cry. Big surprise.

For Andrew's Valentine's gift to us, he's learning to feed himself. This is great, except when it's not. Observe.After cleaning him up, I put him in the living room with his snacks so I could wash the walls and floor in the kitchen. I looked over when he said, "Uh-oh." The joys of an independent child.
Andrew is an AWESOME eater. He will generally eat whatever I give him, but this one surprised even me...I was drinking my green smoothie (mainly spinach and kale with some fruit) and he wanted some. I thought he'd hate it, but he drank almost half. No vegetable aversions here.

His new hobby is finding small chairs and sitting down. Everywhere. He is particularly excited about the Primary room at church. All those mini chairs...

Bahama Mama

Just so you know we really went there. This is the official welcome sign. Isn't it welcoming?

The little centro in the touristy area of Nassau...We didn't do much here since it was Sunday, but we took a nice walk.

Church was great...I love this "zone conference" style picture. Rick and Doris: The Kind BenefactorsJustin and Megan: The Grateful BeneficiariesChase decided to give Justin etiquette lessons at the formal dinner...He said Justin had a "strangle hold" on his glass. Chase is obviously well-versed in his etiquette...I mean, how classy is he? Especially with that bling on his hand...
Sadly, we didn't have the best weather. Justin and I were okay with that, though, because we watched a full season of Alias in our epicurean stateroom on our teeny tiny screen. It wasn't as scary that way. :)
Leaving Miami...It was so cool to see such a elephantine vessel actually float.

This is our artistic interpretation of Sean & Sarah. We didn't get any good pictures of them! Grr. I'm so bad with taking the pictures on vacation.

Chase really wanted to climb the ropes back to the boat, like on the movies (Fievel Goes West, anyone?) but he wimped out at the last second.

Child

Andrew's been doing some strange things recently:

After spreading everything we bought at Costco all over the living room, Andrew just sat and looked over his conquest. And he was doing a really weird "ho ho ho" laugh.

He took Justin's chapstick from the "pocket emptying" tray in our bedroom closet and I couldn't get it out of his mouth for about an hour.

Justin gave Andrew crepes with Nutella and banana for lunch...They were both very pleased with themselves.I don't know how this face came into existence, but he's been doing it a lot lately.

Sister

Reasons why Katie is my absolute favorite:

1. I just told her that if we die on our cruise, she will be Andrew's mom...Her response? "I love the bug. But I really need you to focus on not dying. I'm not ready to be a mom." Sure thing, Kates.

2. She has a really cool job. And she got her job because she seriously proved herself during her internship in D.C. She's smart and uber-organized, which makes her a phenomenal scheduler.

3. When she has rotten sewage flooding her new apartment, she laughs. And she's really pretty.

4. She married Ryan. Also a favorite.

5. Katie actually maintained relationships for me while I was on my mission. She made friends with my friends and made sure they remembered me.

6. Pretty much everything I have done in my life, Katie has done with me. Including getting the same surgery for a rare non-hereditary condition BOTH of us happened to have.

7. Against our husbands' wills, we send packages back and forth almost every month. Sometimes more. This month she has sent me three seasons of Alias and some shorts to wear in the Bahamas. I sent her cookies.

8. Sometimes, when I met boys that I wasn't interested in for myself, I'd set them up with my sister...And it would usually work out.

9. She talked me off the ledge when I had my freak out moment before Justin and I got married.

10. She loves Andrew almost as much as I do. Which is why, if we die, I want Katie to raise my kids. She will be a really good mom.
