Fixated

Andrew is recently obsessed with talking about the temple and Oh-ni-ni (Moroni). I guess there are worse things he could be interested in, right?

PS. Isn't it frustrating when your kid is doing the cutest thing, but you can't get him to do it for the camera? He's a sweetheart, nonetheless.

I'm Just Saying...

I'm not the "longing" type of person. I never wish I was living someone else's life. I tend to be pretty happy with where I am and who I am. However, in the last week, as I've been thinking about Andrew's life, I've been thinking of how cool it would be to be a kid.

the "sing" (swing)...I wish we could spend more time here, but it's just so blazing hot in the middle of the day!

Seriously, someone feeds him. Someone gives him a bath. He never has to do dishes. If he throws food on the floor, no one really gets mad at him. His entire existence is centered around fun things to do. He plays with toys, he takes naps, he goes swimming, he goes to the park, he watches shows, he reads books.

Andrew prefers swimming with his daddy...nice for me. Swimsuit's not looking so good right now. :)

This is MY proudest accomplishment. I made omelettes for dinner and Andrew ate the WHOLE thing...mushrooms, peppers and spinach included. He really likes eggs. He's such a great eater.

In fact, I have a weekly schedule with chores/activities/learning goals for each day, and guess what? All of the activities are for Andrew and all of the chores are for me.

He likes his "shows," which I hate to say are all musicals involving lots of singing and dancing. He's not really into cartoons, but he LOVES Hairspray. Eek.

I'm really glad that Andrew is so cool, or else I might be jealous of him.

It's a....

BROTHER!! Andrew and Justin are super excited to add another boy to the team. I'm excited because I like boys. A lot.

Ta-Da!

I'm feeling very pleased this week...Here's why.

1. Andrew loves his new room and bed. He's been awesome with the change and doesn't even care to go into the baby room anymore, unless he is playing Legos, which are hidden under the crib.
2. I'm so glad to have this bookshelf out of my room and filled with toys so they aren't spilling over into the house. (And I'm using less of Andrew's room for storage than I thought. Just my guitar, top shelf of mission journals and scriptures, and his closet...)3. I am proud of myself for sewing (sewing? I know, right?) the duvet cover and pillowcase. I realize this is not an overwhelmingly difficult project...unless you're me.4. He's only had one naptime that I found him like this rather than in his bed. Ever since, it's just been fantastic to put him to bed. And even this time, he only cried for about 15 minutes.5. And, despite the fevers/runny nose/diarrhea that comes with teething, he's basically been a good boy all week. Curious. But good.

My Birfday

Part of my birthday gift was re-arranging the house to make room for baby #2...We have a few months, but moving and painting in the winter totally stinks (we did that last time), so we are trying to do it now. We bought a desk from IKEA to put in our room. Five hours later, and after building and completely taking apart because of ONE TINY screw, we now enjoy the luxury (i.e. annoyance) of having our office workstation in our bedroom.

Thanks, honey, for teaching me about patience. And not using a screwdriver as a weapon.

Justin also got me a sewing machine (shocking for anyone who knows me, but I really did want it) and some new clothings which I love.

And thank you SO much to my sis and sis-in-law for making sure I felt SUPER special on my b-day. And my nieces and nephews. They make me feel good about myself. Especially when Coley says, "Aunt Megan, even though you have a huge baby growing in your tummy, you're still pretty."

Mostly, it was the best to spend the weekend with my fam and enjoy the holiday. And to eat a LOT of c-r-a-p. That seems to happen when we get together. And I love it, every minute.

4th Faves

4th of July = Favorite holiday. Mostly because I love everything involved...hot dogs, fireworks, summer, races, patriotism, etc.

We had a great one this year. We went up to Idaho (like last year) and enjoyed the smallish-town fun that should be involved in the holiday. And we got to reunite with my sis + bro-in-law and my bro + sis-in-law as well as my so fun nieces and nephews.

Here are the highlights: (and of course, the pics are sparse, because I'm not so good with the pictures)

1. Race for Trev. My cousin is a real-life army guy who has been in Iraq more than he's been home for the last 5 years. We like him, so we (his family + mine) ran for him. He comes home in about a week for a 2-week leave, so that's pretty exciting.
My bionic knee totally helped me get my worst 5K time ever...and being pregnant. No porta-potties = bad news for this mommy-to-be. Had to stop and walk because I didn't want to pee my pants. But it was fun to chat with my sis, so I'm totally not complaining.

2. Rexburg parade. We went there because they throw chocolate milk into the crowd. It was SO worth it. And it brought back such delightful memories of my Rexyburg days.

3. Barbeque at Aunt Laurel's. I love my cousins. They're super cool. No pictures here because Andrew was burning up with fever at this point (teething, poor fella) and so we didn't get to snap any fots because we were otherwise occupied.

4. Fireworks in Troy's neighborhood. Also no pictures because I'm lame. Their hood spent $600 on AWESOME not-so-legal fireworks. It was a VERY good show, and nice that we could put Andrew to bed and enjoy sans baby.

5. Melaleuca fireworks. My cousin told me that Idaho Falls was voted 2nd best fireworks show in the US of A. I totally believe it. Thanks to Troy's boss, all of Idaho gets to see some of the best there is. This year, we didn't go down by the river, but to a nearby park instead. It was really fantastic with much less traffic. 6. And what would a family event be without the bathing cousins picture?
