Sumo Babies

The last few weeks have been a little rough, what with Henry never sleeping--like, ever-- and Andrew routinely throwing random tantrums. Both Megan and I have been perplexed as to how we can better manage our boys. And then, I found this little gem in the Wall Street Journal.

Our questions are answered. Our sons now have a bright future. We're moving to Japan.

Prepare for total domination.

The Gardens

We absolutely love having a membership to Thanksgiving Point. The dinosaur museum is Andrew's dream place, and the Tulip Festival is mine and Justin's. We plan to go at least once a week while the Tulip Festival is going on. It's absolutely breathtaking. The flowers are just phenomenal. And that's really all I have to say.Justin was explaining the botany to Andrew.
Look how pretty...I mean, really.
Andrew was trying to throw rocks to the waterfall. He totally faceplanted into the bushes soon after this picture, and then he jumped up and said, "I'm okay, Mom!"
The Italian garden portion is probably my personal fave. I want to live here.
Andrew wants to swim in this pond. I don't blame him.

Henry -

Loves his fish that his cousin, Cole, gave to him.
Puts everything in his mouth.
Willingly joins any adventure we force upon him.
Doesn't like his carseat that much.
Still has kind of a..."defined" nose for his size. It adds to his "little man" look.

Andrew -

Loves bubble baths...Especially the eating bubbles part.
Is a super good helper.
Thinks Play-Doh is the end-all fun activity on a rainy day.
Eats more than most kids his age...Breakfast usually comes in three or four courses.

What the...? Where do the days go?

I know everyone else has already posted about Easter...But we did celebrate the holiday as well. We're really working on enjoying holidays instead of just looking at the calendar and saying, "Oh, it's June. Guess we missed Easter."
I love how it's like discovering a treasure when you dye eggs. Does the orange tablet always seem like it will be yellow to anyone else?


During priesthood session, we had Cassie and girls and Rachel and boys over to do some dipping...By that I mean dipping Rice Crispie Treat eggs into chocolate. And let me tell you, those kiddies thought that was the most genius idea ever. For one night, Mother of the Year.


Andrew was a little confused about the dippage...Mostly he'd dip then bite, dip then bite. Distribute the chocolate evenly. That's right, kid.


Justin got some good prizes at our 2nd Annual Neighborhood Easter Egg Gathering. Can't really call it a hunt, because all the kids are too little to actually LOOK for eggs. Mostly it's like, Oh, there's a big pink blob in the grass. That's suspicious.


Henry had the important job of guarding our prizes (Play-Doh). He looks like a guard dog, huh?


Andrew and Justin did some good gathering. And the bonus is that Andrew's Easter basket will definitely double as a Halloween prop. Looks like he's going to be a football player. Done and done. I'm so on top of holidays.

On the horizon...

After spending a weekend in Texas, here are some things I learned:

1. Whatever you pay for, that's what you get...At least when it comes to hotel rooms. Let's just say that our accommodations the first night were not stellar.

2. People are really nice in Texas. Especially if you happen to share their faith. We got no less than 6 invitations to Sunday dinner. We're so excited to actually move there so we can return the favor.

3. BYU has nothing on A&M when it comes to school spirit. We're so totally happy to be Aggies.

4. If you need to find a place to live, call Kelly. She'll just do the work for you, and you might get some awesome neighbors out of the deal. Settlers and baby monitors, here we come.

5. Austin is a very cool city. And we saw the largest population of urban bats in the world. In the WORLD. How cool is that?

6. Don't make GPS lady mad. You might miss your flight if you do.

Outings

Potty training kind of confined us to home for a few days, but on Saturday we decided it was time to venture. We met up with Sean, Sarah and their kids plus Rick and Doris for a day at the children's museum. So fun.

I promise the boys did more than just eat. Well, Andrew did.

Speaking of outings, I told Andrew that we were going to the library, so he needed to get some shoes and pants on. (Yes, it's true, pants are not mandatory attire around our house. Just when we go outside.) This is the outfit he came up with.


So what did I do? Put him in the car and went to the library, of course. He got a few comments about his cool boots, with which he wholeheartedly agreed. He's a cool kid.

So, the polls are open...Should I give this little scraggle monster his 2nd haircut? His hair is looking pretty sweet these days.
