On the horizon...

After spending a weekend in Texas, here are some things I learned:

1. Whatever you pay for, that's what you get...At least when it comes to hotel rooms. Let's just say that our accommodations the first night were not stellar.

2. People are really nice in Texas. Especially if you happen to share their faith. We got no less than 6 invitations to Sunday dinner. We're so excited to actually move there so we can return the favor.

3. BYU has nothing on A&M when it comes to school spirit. We're so totally happy to be Aggies.

4. If you need to find a place to live, call Kelly. She'll just do the work for you, and you might get some awesome neighbors out of the deal. Settlers and baby monitors, here we come.

5. Austin is a very cool city. And we saw the largest population of urban bats in the world. In the WORLD. How cool is that?

6. Don't make GPS lady mad. You might miss your flight if you do.

Outings

Potty training kind of confined us to home for a few days, but on Saturday we decided it was time to venture. We met up with Sean, Sarah and their kids plus Rick and Doris for a day at the children's museum. So fun.

I promise the boys did more than just eat. Well, Andrew did.
Speaking of outings, I told Andrew that we were going to the library, so he needed to get some shoes and pants on. (Yes, it's true, pants are not mandatory attire around our house. Just when we go outside.) This is the outfit he came up with.

So what did I do? Put him in the car and went to the library, of course. He got a few comments about his cool boots, with which he wholeheartedly agreed. He's a cool kid.

So, the polls are open...Should I give this little scraggle monster his 2nd haircut? His hair is looking pretty sweet these days.

Henry Speaks

And he has a surprisingly low voice. We think it's alien speak for "You guys are the best parents ever." But we're not 100% sure.

Why I Love Him...

Andrew is so many things....

  • An AWESOME sleeper. He basically puts himself to bed, is super low-maintenance, and sleep really does wonders for his attitude.
  • A really nice big brother. He loves Henry, but doesn't smother him. He was going down for a nap today, and I was holding Henry while putting Andrew to bed. He said, "Mommy, I need baby lay down by me." I put Henry on Andrew's pillow next to him, and Andrew said, "Okay, Mommy. Ni-night. You go sleep in the green one (that's my bed)."
  • The best son ever. He learned the phrase, "Mommy, what's wrong?" I was watching Mormon Messages, bawling (of course), and he came in my room and said, "Mommy, s'okay. I hold you."
  • Just like his daddy. Even though he's young, Andrew is already more concerned about others than himself. He was crying and whining at the same time as Henry yesterday, and I said, "Andrew, it's not your turn to cry." So, he stops crying, and says, "Henry's turn, okay?" and then went in his room to play.

My Buddy

Watch This to find out our new theory in our house. Really. You'll laugh your guts out.

Anyone stopping by this week has been met by this:
We apologize for the immodesty, but...he's potty training this week and doing an AWESOME job. (Potty training totally stinks if you are a mom, by the way. I have such a new appreciation for my mom for doing this.) Found out he is highly motivated by M ee M's (as am I) and really loves wearing big boy underwear.

Andrew's other escapades:Right before I snapped this photo, he was sitting IN the Bumbo (normally reserved for Henry) "counting rocks." He's not supposed to climb on the table, by the way.

Eating his lunch of a p-butter sandwich (on rye bread...the kid's a freaking garbage disposal), kiwi and pineapple. I love our new food co-op.

I came into the bathroom to see Andrew with my glasses on, reading his book. I should be nervous every time he walks out of the room. I never know what I'm going to find.

Events

I'm not doing well keeping up. I admit it. But here are some things happening around here:

Henry is no longer immobile...He rolls both ways and flips over things. He also scoots around a bit on his back by pushing his feet against whatever he can. Me no likey the moving business. It seems a bit premature in my opinion. I can't ever remember when babies start figuring these things out.Didn't think it was possible for his hair to get more incredible. But it is getting way super long and crazy. Our herb garden is freaking awesome. If anyone needs basil, I'm your lady.

And we're potty training against my will. Andrew wants to do it, so I guess we can, but it's totally not fun. In fact, it's kind of a thankless job. But, such is life.

My Little Boys

Really, NOTHING was working...But I couldn't stop laughing during the shoot. Really, what kind of idiot thought process led me to believe having Andrew and Henry do a brother picture was even in the realms of possibility?
We spent most of the time trying to coax Andrew from here.
But he has THE cutest dimples...
And this little man...I seriously can't get enough of him. He only got one dimple, but it's so subtle and sweet. And his personality is mellow and relaxing (in comparison to his brother, probably not to any other mom). I'm so glad I can claim his as mine.
I want to blow this up and put it in our living room. The look of disgust on Henry's face is worth a million dollars to me.

No matter how "terrible 2's" Andrew is acting...You can't help but love this little one. Putting him to bed tonight, I had a little tender moment. While he was saying his prayers (by himself...he's so good), I couldn't stop looking at his sweet face. I am so glad he's my little buddy. He's a firecracker for sure, but he's got a personality as big as the universe.
